Trafford began their pre-season friendly programme with an entertaining 2-2 draw against National League North outfit Curzon Ashton at Shawe View on Saturday.
Manager Danny Caldecott’s starting line-up contained just four regulars from last season, with five players making their debuts, and Ally Brown and Harry Sheridan returning to the club.
But it was Curzon who set the pace in the opening minutes with Devon Matthews heading against the crossbar before Trafford striker Max Hazeldine rounded off a quick counter-attack with a superb chip over Cameron Mason to put the hosts ahead.
Visiting skipper Craig Mahon blasted a great 25 yard drive against the crossbar in the 19th minute and Trafford keeper Brad Rose, extremely impressive on his first appearance, saved at full length to thwart Miles Storey.
In the 40th minute the hosts struck again, Harry Sheridan and Dimitrious Rami linking neatly on the left and feeding Max Hazeldine who curled a beautiful drive past Mason and inside the far corner for his and Trafford's second goal.
Manager Caldecott made ten changes to the Trafford line-up in the second half and the visitors dominated for long spells.
Jimmy Spencer’s drive from 20 yards was held by Alex Ward-Jones and then a Curzon trialist blazed over from just ten yards.
In the 79th minute Trafford’s 16 year old left back Charlie Holden upended Dylan Edmundson and Stefan Mols coolly converted the resultant penalty and six minutes from time Curzon’s relentless pressure paid dividends when Devon Matthews fired home from close range to make it 2-2.
Trafford make the journey to Cheadle Heath Nomads on Tuesday night for a 7-45pm kick off before entertaining Warrington Rylands at Shawe View on Saturday, kick off 3 p.m.
