Trafford fell to a rather disappointing 3-1 defeat at the hands of an impressive Bury team in front of 682 spectators at the Away Day Care Shawe View Stadium.
The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute when they were awarded a penalty for a trip on roving right back Bebeto Gomes, Brian Ly seeing his spot kick superbly saved by Sam Booth but fortuitously seizing on the rebound to head past the luckless Trafford keeper.
Booth made several more fine saves but couldn't prevent Sam Coughlan from making it two in the 39th minute when he slotted the ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
Two minutes into the second half the visitors struck again, Booth being caught in possession when trying to control an awkward looking back pass and Iyrwah Gooden dispossessing him to tap the ball into the empty net.
Wholesale changes were made to the Trafford line-up throughout the game and in the 74th minute they pulled a goal back when Rio Clegg cut in from the right, stepped inside a Bury defender and buried his shot just inside the far post.
The hosts pushed forward in search of further goals but the Bury defence held firm and the North West Counties outfit fully deserved their victory.
