On Tuesday evening Trafford played host to FC United of Manchester and once again were second best in a 5-1 defeat.
Paul Ennis put the Red Rebels ahead after just six minutes when he drilled a shot from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom corner but Trafford levelled shortly afterwards when Rio Clegg was bundled to the ground and dusted himself down to place the resultant penalty past Matty Corran.
In the 26th minute Aaron Bennett restored the visitors lead with a stunning angled drive into the top corner from 25 yards and the much-travelled Adam Le Fondre made it 3-1 with a simple back post header seven minutes later.
Poor marking at a free kick shortly after half-time allowed centre back Ryan Qualter to volley home from close range and the scoring was completed in the 71st minute when Michael Donohue neatly clipped the ball over Jack Higginbottom and advanced to coolly place the ball past the advancing Booth.
Marginson’s side now have just one more pre-season friendly, against Uppermill at the Away Day Care Shawe View Stadium on Tuesday night (7-30), before travelling over to Bradford on Friday night for their FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round Tie against Albion Sports.
