Margy's reign starts with a 2-2 draw

Karl Marginson’s reign as Trafford manager started with a 2-2 draw against an impressive Runcorn side meaning that the Shawe View men have now drawn six of their opening nine games.
The visitors should have taken the lead after just 12 minutes when Oliver Molloy somehow lifted the ball over the Trafford crossbar from just two yards.
Four minutes later an Alfie Belcher free kick was held at the second attempt by Bayleigh Passant and the visitors squandered another good chance when Adam Moseley’s short range shot was saved by the feet of home keeper Brad Rose.
In the 29th minute, and rather against the run of play, Trafford forged ahead when Jack Sloan made a surging run down the left and crossed hard and low for Danny Lambert to tap home from four yards.
In the 44th minute Trafford should have doubled their lead when a quick break left them with three on two but Eddie Servuts elected to shoot from the edge of the area and Passant saved.
And Trafford were made to rue that miss in the first minute of added time when they gifted possession to the Linnets and Ryan Brooke struck a fine shot from 20 yards into the bottom right hand corner.
The second half started disastrously for Trafford when, in the 49th minute, Linnets Will Saxon crossed hopefully from the left and Trafford centre back Will Hall sliced his clearance past Rose and into the back of the net.
In the 65th minute manager Marginson introduced substitutes Mike Burke and Astley Mulholland in place of Tom Bentham and Leighton Egan and their impact was almost immediate.
Burke drove over from 25 yards following a slick team move in the 68th minute and orchestrated the Trafford equaliser just a minute later when he skipped past a Runcorn defender and fed the marauding Jack Sloan whose low cross was bundled home from close range by Eddie Servuts.
Neither team was able to create any clear-cut chances in the final twenty minutes which means the point gained moves Trafford above Hednesford at the bottom of the league table but desperate for their first league win of the season.
On Saturday Trafford will seek that elusive victory with a trip to Stalybridge Celtic for a Northern Premier League West Division fixture kicking off at 3 p.m.
