1874 NORTHWICH 0 TRAFFORD 4

Trafford moved five points clear of the NPL West Division relegation zone with a crucial and emphatic 4-0 win at Northwich on Saturday.
On a difficult playing surface, both teams struggled in the opening stages, conceding possession far too frequently, and there was little goalmouth action.
However, the game sprung into life in the 37th minute when Rob Worrall swung a cross in from the right and Eddie Servuts glanced a superb header into the opposite bottom corner to make it 1-0.
Nine minutes later another cross from the right was helped on by Hilal Khan, the ball falling to Damola Sotona who stepped inside Tom Fagan and blasted a great shot past Matt Wonnacott via the underside of the crossbar.
Northwich made a double substitution at half-time in an attempt to force their way back into the game but the second period belonged entirely to Trafford and in the 48th minute Matty Morgan almost made it three when his goal-bound shot from 15 yards was deflected inches wide.
Six minutes later that third goal duly arrived with Morgan once again the architect, cracking a low drive that Wonnacott could only parry into the path of Tom Beckett who coolly side-footed the ball into the bottom corner.
Rob Worrall twice went close to increasing the visitors lead and Hilal Khan saw his shot blocked by Ezekiah Bowen as Trafford threatened to run riot and in the 74th minute Jordan Fagbola made it 4-0 when he powered a header into the top corner following neat work by Sotona and substitute Sam Gill.
Two minutes later Northwich substitute Joel Jones broke clear of the Trafford defence but was denied by a brilliant save by Sam Booth and in the 89th minute Tom Fagan headed onto the top of Booth’s crossbar from the edge of the penalty area.
The final whistle signalled a vital win for Karl Marginson’s team who move into 17th place in the league table, 11 points ahead of 1874 Northwich.
