Dramatic 96th minute equaliser rescues a point for Trafford!

A dramatic 96th minute equaliser by substitute Kanye Nisbett rescued Trafford and earned them a vital point in their NPL West Division clash against Widnes at the Away Day Care Shawe View Stadium on Saturday.
Karl Marginson’s side made a bright start with Tom Beckett firing wide of the far post in the first minute and the returning Scott Kay the dominant force in midfield.
Marginson gave a debut to centre back Jordan Fagbola and he cut an imposing figure alongside Harry Norris as the hosts dominated, Beckett wasting another good opportunity in the 16th minute when he shot high and wide following good work by Niall Cummins.
Widnes were looking dangerous in their occasional forays forward and in the 25th minute a superb volley by Will Jones was brilliantly tipped over by home keeper Sam Booth.
Just before half-time Booth was called into action again when he pushed a James Steele effort past the near post as the Widnes striker broke in the inside right channel.
Trafford were on top once again in the opening minutes of the second half with Tom Beckett curling a delightful goal-bound drive that was cleared off the line by Matty Rain.
However, in the 56th minute the visitors surged ahead when Ste Milne outpaced Damola Sotona down the right and crossed for Sean Miller to fire into the roof of the net from eight yards.
Sam Booth produced another fine save to thwart Steven Irwin and in the 83rd minute Tom Beckett flashed a great low cross across the face of the Widnes goal but no one was on hand to force the ball home.
Widnes were defending valiantly and looked certain of securing the three points when Trafford were awarded a corner in the sixth minute of injury time. The ball was swung beyond the back post, the visitors only half cleared and in the ensuing scramble Kanye Nisbett prodded the ball past Cameron Terry and into the bottom corner.
Seconds later the final whistle signalled the end of an entertaining game played in atrocious conditions with Trafford snatching a point that could prove to be vital come the end of the season.
Speaking after the game, Karl Marginson said: "We've go to give credit to them (Widnes), some very good players... caused us problems and were disciplined in their shape.
"But we kept plugging away. I think we got our just reward."
With turnover of players remaining high, and disruption in the calendar due to weather, Marginson said: "Getting to know each other and playing together takes a little bit of time, I think that was evident today .. but we'll get there."
On Saturday, Marginson’s side make the trip over to play Clitheroe in an intriguing fixture as the hosts are now managed by ex-Trafford boss Danny Caldecott. "We'll get (the team) organised and go there with that feeling that when you score a goal with an equaliser it feels more like a win to be honest," said Trafford's manager.
