Trafford edged a fiercely contested Greater Manchester derby with two superbly taken second half goals by Rio Clegg and Matty Morgan.
Karl Marginson’s side made a lively start with skipper Harry Norris powering a header from a right wing corner into the hands of Kyle Haslam after just two minutes.
At the other end, Ben Mail nodded wide at the back post but defences were generally on top with both teams restricted to long range efforts on goal.
Rio Clegg blasted a free kick from 20 yards well over and Damola Sotona twice cracked shots from 25 yards that were comfortably held by Haslam.
At the other end Cameron Annis-Wade volleyed inched wide from just outside the penalty area but the teams went in at half-time with neither keeper particularly troubled.
However, just three minutes into the second half the deadlock was broken when Rio Clegg burst clear in the inside right position and brilliantly lifted the ball over the advancing Haslam to make it 1-0.
Six minutes later Clegg almost made it two but was thwarted by a great recovery tackle by Ryan Shenton.
Damola Sotona made several scintillating runs down the right flank and in the 66th minute skipped inside two defenders but curled his shot just over.
Wythenshawe began to take control and dominated for long spells, and home keeper Sam Booth saved at point blank range in the 69th minute to deny substitute Andy Keogh.
Visiting skipper Luke Worth volleyed wildly over from 15 yards as Trafford half cleared a free kick and Abdullah Ahmed caused the home defence numerous problems down their right hand side with his pace and skill.
Matty Lusakueno fired just past the upright in a rare Trafford attack but most of the play was in the home half with Sam Booth coming to his side’s rescue once more when he tipped a Michael Monaghan snapshot past the near post.
Wythenshawe won a succession of corners but Trafford were defending magnificently with centre backs Harry Norris and Jordan Fagbola in imperious form and in the 89th minute the points were sealed when Hilal Khan neatly fed Matty Morgan who crashed an unstoppable 20 yard drive past Kyle Haslam.
This victory moved Trafford up to sixth place in the NPL West Division and gives them renewed confidence as they travel to Witton Albion on Tuesday night and Stafford Rangers on Saturday.
