SIZZLING DISPLAY ROUNDS OFF PERFECT WEEK!

Trafford rounded off their perfect week with another sizzling display to defeat second placed Marine 2-1 at College Road on Tuesday night. Following their 7-2 annihilation of Kendal Town and 3-0 FA Cup success over Bamber Bridge, Tom Baker’s young side started the game full of confidence. However, in the 8th minute they had to call on keeper Matty Cooper to keep them in the game when he brilliantly tipped a Kenny Strickland drive over the crossbar.
With new signing Toyeeb Mustapha displaying some magical skills on the right Trafford began to get on top and after Tom Schofield blasted over from 25 yards, Lewis Salmon saw his angled drive well held by Shamal George.
Marine pushed forward in the closing minutes of the first half with Steve Irwin striking the foot of the post from close range and Brett Mbalanda heading over from inside the six yard box.
Trafford stormed forward immediately after the interval with Schofield and Ross Davidson controlling the midfield and they took the lead in the 48th minute when Lewis Salmon pounced on a mistake by a home defender and drove the ball past George.
Keil O’Brien then saw his header from a free kick deflected wide but disaster struck on the hour when the hosts equalised against the run of play, substitute Craig Lindfield firing home at the back post following a break down the left.
Within a minute Sam Grimshaw almost restored Trafford’s lead when his shot from deep on the left cannoned back into play off the far post but it was now all Trafford with Mustapha tormenting the home defenders with his breathtaking skill and pace.
The visitors introduced substitutes Darius Palma and Jordan Johnson in an attempt to break the deadlock and in the 90th minute Palma cut in from the right and curled a magnificent shot into the opposite corner to give Trafford a victory they thoroughly deserved.
Manager Baker will be hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to four games on Saturday when Trafford entertain Marske United at the Home Estates Shawe View Stadium, kick off 3 p.m. Report by Dave Law (Photo courtesy of @paulmoran62)
